Houghton Library Exhibition Loan Inquiries


The information requested in this form is needed in order to thoroughly review your request with curatorial and conservation staff. Please fill out all * required sections. If you are unable to supply any information in the other sections, please know that we do need it and will follow-up about any missing information. Please enter all responses in the description field. 

If you are an external borrower:
  • please fill out this form at least 12 months ahead of your exhibition
  • note that Houghton charges a loan fee of $250 per item in addition to the total costs incurred for the loan
  • note that Houghton generally lends to only one venue for a 3-month period
If you are a Harvard campus borrower:
  • please fill out the form at least 6 months prior to your exhibition; 12 months is preferred 
  • note that Houghton does not charge Harvard affiliates any loan fees, but the campus borrower is otherwise responsible for the total incurred cost of the loan
  • note that Houghton generally lends to only one venue for a 3-month period
