As America’s leading businesses and employers, we feel compelled to reaffirm our commitment to full LGBTQ+ equality in our workplaces and beyond.
Since 2015, state lawmakers have introduced more than 1,700 pieces of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, with an increasing number enacted each year – over 70 in 2023, alone. Businesses are also facing pushback fueled by anti-LGBTQ groups for standing in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. These coordinated efforts to discriminate are wrong and must stop. They impede the success of our employees, our customers, and ultimately our businesses. They undermine our ability to contribute to the health of our national economy.
Now, more than ever, we must stand up as public allies – visibly supporting the LGBTQ+ community without exception, embracing the full spectrum of diverse identities, and defending against any efforts to discriminate -- particularly transgender and non-binary community members who are being targeted.
We are working hard to ensure our LGBTQ+ employees and their families are safe and have access to the benefits and care they need and deserve. We support our LGBTQ+ employees, customers, and clients to be able to enjoy the full rights and privileges we all are guaranteed as Americans. Some lawmakers are making this impossible. That’s wrong and anti-business.
So it is with urgency and resolve as allies to the LGBTQ+ community, we pledge to:
Stand proudly and publicly as LGBTQ+ allies, calling on lawmakers to abandon any efforts to discriminate and reject anti-LGBTQ threats to company values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Raise up honest and authentic experiences of LGBTQ+ Americans, including those of our valued employees and customers in the transgender and non-binary community; and
Ensure our transgender and non-binary employees and their families have access to the health and medical care they need, where possible under the law.
We invite all equality-minded businesses to join us in calling on lawmakers to end all discriminatory attacks on the LGBTQ+ community. Enough is enough.
